Aldean Franklin Dukes, Sr.

Aldean Franklin Dukes, Sr., 83, of Valdosta, died at South Georgia Medical Center on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Born in South Carolina on January 13, 1938, Aldean was the son of the late Troy and Mabel Dedge Dukes. He had served in the National Guard and he was the owner and operator of Aldean Dukes Logging, Inc. for more than 50 years. As one of the first certified master timber harvesters in the state of Georgia, he was Past President of the Valdosta Chapter and Board Member of the Southeastern Wood Producers Association (SWPA). Aldean was an avid Lowndes Viking fan and Touchdown Club Member. He was a kind, humble, selfless man who loved his family and God above all else. A loving and devoted grandfather, he was adored by his family and by all he met. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Park.
Survivors are his wife, Ann Moore Dukes, sons, Aldean Dukes, Jr., Michael Dean Bradford, Timothy Stephen Bradford all of Valdosta; grandchildren, Sarah Ann Bradford, Benjamin Michael Bradford both of Valdosta; sisters, Frances and Robert Baehne of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Brenda Lehman of Lake Park and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Herman Dukes, brothers, Troy Wade Dukes, Jr. and Donald Dukes, and his best friend, Fred Blanton.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Robert Dawson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. A private family committal will follow at Good Hope Cemetery.
