Alberta Van Vlake 89, of Valdosta died Thursday, September 15, 2005 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman after a lengthy illness. She was born on January 28, 1916 in West Helena, Arkansas to the late Elmer and Hazel Phillips Brewer and had lived in Valdosta for more than forty years. Mrs. Van Vlake owned and operated Van’s Nursery for thirty years and was a member of the Dasher Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Hazel Dasher of Valdosta, a son and daughter in law, Roy Calvin, Jr. and Barbara Van Vlake of Moultrie, her grandchildren, Debbie Tillman of Moultrie, Tina Griffin of Green Bay, WI., Torina Mobley of Moultrie, Dana Edmondson of Andrews AFB, Maryland, Geri Burkhalter of Dasher and Kenneth W. Dasher of Valdosta and fifteen great grandchildren.
