Albert Sterling Garnto

Albert Sterling Garnto, 71, of Valdosta, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014, at South Georgia Medical Center.

He was born July 29, 1942 in Dublin, GA, a son of the late Durell and Emma Nell Sterling Garnto. Mr. Garnto was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved hunting and fishing, and was a longtime member of Azalea City Church of God where he served as an Usher and Senior Citizen Church Bus driver for many years. Mr. Garnto was employed at TM Polyfilm in Valdosta, and was retired from Valesco and Bayliner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jessie Garnto; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Donny Hancock of Pinetta, FL, and Karla and Billy Whiting of Valdosta, GA; four grandchildren, Chase Garnto and wife Nicole of Valdosta, GA, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Brendon Sterling Hancock and wife Megan of Ft. Polk, LA, Kimber Cagle and husband Daniel of Valdosta, GA, and Aaron Whiting and wife Jessica of Lake Park, GA; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Emma Lou Garrett of Adrian, GA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Foskey DeSmith.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Garnto will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Azalea City Church of God. Interment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta.
