Albert Kenneth Monk, 93, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Langdale Hospice House. Born in Naylor on October 9, 1914, he was the son of the late Albert and Lizzie Sellars Monk. Mr. Monk owned and operated Monks Grocery before his retirement. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret Langford Monk of Valdosta; sons and daughters in law, Kenny and Brenda Monk of Valdosta, John Albert and Faye Monk of Cookville, Tennessee, Donald Wayne and Pauline Moore of Valdosta; step children, Catherine Taylor of Jacksonville, Florida, Susan Clark of Thomasville, Rusty and JoAnn Mullis of Ray City, Rhonda Hall of Perry, Florida; five grandchildren, eight step grandchildren. Mr. Monk was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie, and a brother, Emory Monk.
Funeral services for Mr. Monk will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at ten a.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church. Reverend A. M. Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery.
