Albert Dewey Copeland

Albert Dewey Copeland, 77, of Valdosta, died on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Langdale Hospice House. Born on May 10, 1932 in Valdosta, he was the son of Pauline Johnson Copeland and the late Dewey Copeland. Mr. Copeland was a bus driver for the Lowndes County School System and enjoyed driving the sports teams to all their games. He was a member of the Georgia National Guard and Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Sumner Copeland of Valdosta; mother, Pauline Johnson Copeland of Valdosta; a daughter, Beth Copeland Greene of Valdosta; sons and daughter-in-law, Albert D. Copeland, Jr., M.D. and wife, Jennifer of Ellijay, Glenn Copeland and wife, Vickie of Valdosta; grandchildren, Shannon and Anna Copeland of Atlanta, Christopher and Darby Copeland of Aiken, SC, Grayson Copeland of Ellijay, Zachary and Sara Greene, Springfield, VA, Tyler Greene, Adam and Leanna Greene, Tessa and Richard Wilkes, Garrett and Emily Copeland, Nickolas and Wendy Copeland, all of Valdosta; great-grandchildren, Carter Copeland, Hadley Copeland, Sumner Copeland, Charlie Copeland, Alexandria Wilkes, Adleigh Greene; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynda and Johnny Buckholts of Forest Park, Lynette and Richard Shephard of Bella Vista, AR. Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Copeland.

Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, February 25, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Charlie Wilson, Mr. G.R. Holton and Mr. John Klimko officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
