Acie Allen Tew, Jr., 82, of Lake Park, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 20, 1935 in Henry County, GA to the late Accie Tew and Katie Bush Tew. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Tew retired after 30 years driving for Roadway as a long-haul truck driver. He was an avid Nascar fan and family man. He loved his family and fur baby (Jeannie Joy). He was dedicated to his nieces and nephews, and he had a grandfatherly love for all children. He liked to fish and enjoyed the construction of his pond at his home. Mr. Tew loved the Lord and was saved many years ago.
Mr. Tew is survived by his wife of 35 years, Wanda Peterson Tew, of Lake Park; one son Billy (Kelsey) Tew, of Hampton, GA; one daughter Becky (Greg) Evans of Columbus, GA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara (John) Lucero, Marie Hayes, Wilma Cooley, and Nancy (Jerry) Jenkins. He was preceded in death by three daughters Angela King, Jennifer Bays, Brenda McCall, his parents, two sisters, and one brother. The family would like to thank Dr. Sohail and the Valdosta VA Clinic for taking good care of him during his illness.
A funeral service for Mr. Tew will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Lake Park Church of God with Bro. Keith Sandlin officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Halycon Hospice 101 Northside Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602.
