A. Lee Taylor, 79, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 29, 1931 in Helen, West Virginia to the late Willie G. and Martha Davis Taylor. He was retired from the United States Air Force and had served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Taylor had also worked as a Sky Marshall and he attended Morningside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Frances Taylor of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee G. and Connie Taylor and James R. and Debbie Taylor all of Acworth, Georgia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Walt Green and Jan and Rick Holmes all of Hahira and Sharon and Chris Willis of Rydal, Georgia; nine grandchildren, J. T. Taylor, Brandi Hendley (Klint), Karen Lee Barnett (Elijah), Amie Green, Katelyn Rountree, Dolly Taylor, Seth Rountree, Ryan Green and Emma Willis, two great-grandchildren, Haylee Hendley and Zack Speer, a brother and sister-in-law, James D. and Jerri Taylor of Louisville, Kentucky; three sisters, Opal Atkins and Mabel Vaughn both of Louisville, Kentucky and Edith Miller of Dunnville, Kentucky; his mother-in-law, Margaret Faircloth and a sister-in-law, Joanne Bass both of Valdosta, numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Lee Taylor will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Bethany Hospice.
