Ronald Hamby

April 17, 1924 — February 18, 2012

Ronald Hamby, (Lt.Col. USAF, Retired), 87, of Valdosta died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Smith Northview Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Boaz, Alabama on April 17, 1924 to the late A.J. and Beatrice Hamby. He served in the United States Air Force where he was a jet fighter pilot, flight instructor and a wing air inspector. He also served as an operations officer-air technician in the Alabama National Guard and as a operations specialist and fighter pilot with the United States Army Air Corps. Mr. Hamby was a Methodist.

Survivors include his son, John D. Hamby , his daughter, Dr. Karen Anne Hamby Kinney, two sisters, Inez Davis of Mobile, Alabama and Ann Mann of Huntsville, Alabama and a special friend, Mae Pope of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Hagaman Hamby.
