Numa Z. Stalvey

Numa Z. Stalvey, 86, of Ray City, Georgia died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton, Georgia. She was born on June 11, 1926 in Mercedes, Texas to the late Ben S. and Concepcion Solis Zamora. Mrs. Stalvey was a homemaker and a member of Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was married to Jack Lane, Jr. in Edinburg, TX and worked at the Hidalgo County, TX Court House for twenty years. She moved to Valdosta and married Vernon Owen Stalvey in 1973. He died on August 22, 2007 after thirty four years of marriage. Mrs. Stalvey worked at Moody Air Force Base as a bookkeeper. She moved to Lake City, FL and DeRidder, LA then to Ray City and retired. Mrs. Stalvey loved to read, enjoyed walking, loved to sew and enjoyed gardening. She liked to can and bake and was known for her pecan cake and pound cake.

Mrs. Stalvey is survived by three daughters, Numa J. Garcia of Ray City, Cynthia M. Crews (Sam Crews, Jr.) of Douglasville and Jacqueline J. Housley of Oklahoma City, OK, twelve grandchildren, Roel B. Garcia, Raul E. Garcia, Dianitta E. Williams, Rene A. Garcia, Yanci K. Swenson, Dustin Bertsch, Renea Merchant, Tyler Housley, Jocelyn M. Crews, Janessa V. Crews, Joette W. Crews and Jesse S. Crews, 24 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Owen Stalvey, her daughter, Roseanna Bertsch, her son in law, Edwardo Garcia, her great grandson, Paul Edwardo Garcia

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Friday at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
