Josette Courson, 70, of Valdosta passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at her residence. She was born on May 9, 1948 in Hawkinsville, GA to the late James David Taylor and Margaret Jeanette Exum Taylor. Mrs. Courson was a hairdresser and owned and operated Josette’s Beauty Shop. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Mrs. Courson enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, John C. Courson of Valdosta, two daughters, Shannon (Marty) Ellison and Christie (Houston) Brown all of Valdosta, special niece, Melissa Dawn Taylor of Brunswick, grandchildren, Camryn, Nathan, Brittin, John Walker, Audrey, Harlee, McLain, Ashton and Veda, sisters, Sheila Harrell (Freddie) of Quitman, Alicia Evans (Mike) of Valdosta, Tina Tallman (Bobby) of Crestview, FL, brothers, Coy Taylor (Rhonda) of Valdosta, David Taylor of Ashburn and Tony Taylor of Fort Walton Beach, FL, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Courson is preceded in death by her sister in law, Elaina Taylor and brother, James Taylor.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at eleven a. m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made to Pearlman Cancer Center, 2501 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA 31602.
