John G. Bolen, Jr.

John G. Bolen, Jr., 87, of Valdosta died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Valdosta on June 6, 1929 and was the son of the late John G. Bolen, Sr. and the late Virginia Chitty Pennington. Mr. Bolen was a Methodist and retired from ITT Thompson Industries. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and loved fishing, hunting, the outdoors and growing lemons. Mr. Bolen was a member of the Withlacoochee Hunting Club and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his daughter, Tricia Puckett of Valdosta; his granddaughter and grandson in law, Morgan and Ricky O' Connor of Hahira; great granddaughters who were the light of his life, Kinley Marie O'Connor, Karleigh Lorraine O'Connor and a great grandson due in March, Ricky Joseph O'Connor; a special friend, Jewel Newbern of Adel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Frier Bolen, a son, John G. (Jack) Bolen, III , a son in law, Jimbo Puckett, a sister, Marlene Pennington Terrell and a brother, Larry Pennington, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
