JESSIE KINSEY, 94, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Augusta Hills Nursing Home, Augusta, after a lengthy illness. She was born on March 13, 1915 in Lowndes County, a daughter of the late Thomas and Valeria Wisenbaker McLeod.

Mrs. Kinsey was a lifelong and faithful member of the Church of Christ, most recently a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. She had worked at Oberman's as a seamstress, and had enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, yard work, vegetable gardening and travelling.

She is survived by her son, Alvin Kinsey and wife Martha of Augusta; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Annie Ruth Carter of Echols County; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Cleo Raymond Kinsey; a son, Raymond B. Kinsey; a grandson, Alvin Kinsey, Jr.; five sisters, Susie McLeod, Bonnie Johnson, Maude Knight, Ruby Culpepper, and Ada Lee Willis; and four brothers, Ewel, Newton, A.B. and Oscar McLeod.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 3, 2009, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Marvin Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Dasher Cemetery.
