Durward Arnold

Durward Arnold, 79, of Dasher, died on Monday, April 27, 2009 at his residence. Born in Clyattville, to the late Grover Cleveland Arnold, Sr. and Minnie Wisenbaker Arnold, he was a lifelong resident of this area. In his younger days, Mr. Arnold had been a farmer and had worked for Gold Kist for several years. He had a great love for flowers and kept a beautiful yard full of flowers and also operated the Arnold-McLane Florist for many years. Mr. Arnold was a longtime member of Lake Park Christian Church and served there as treasurer for many of those years.

Survivors include a sister in law, Ruby Lee Arnold of Valdosta; three nieces Nancy (Larry) Oswald, of Gilbert, SC, Carolyn (David) Roddey of Hahira, and Rebecca (Paul) Fiene of Indianapolis, IN; nephews, Ronald (Phyllis) Dasher of Rome, Lawton (Pam) Dasher and Allan L. Arnold, Jr., all of Valdosta. Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Dasher; brothers, Francis Arnold, G.C. Arnold, Jr. and Loyce Arnold; and a nephew, Cleve Arnold.

Services will be held at 4 P.M. on Thursday, April 30, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Mickey Corbett and Pastor Larry Harden officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon prior to the service.
