Christopher (Chris) E. Sullins, Jr.

July 11, 1924 — March 5, 2017

Christopher (Chris) E. Sullins, Jr., affectionately known as Unka Buddy, 92 of Valdosta died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his home. He was born in Plant City, Florida on July 11, 1924 to the late Christopher E., Sr. and Bessie Mae Holbrook Sullins and had lived in Valdosta since 1996. Mr. Sullins was a member of the Living Church of God in Thomasville, Georgia and a retired Law Enforcement Officer with the State of Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II in Europe, Austria, Germany and France. Mr. Sullins loved his family and his church family and to fish.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Helen Roberts Sullins of Valdosta; two daughters, Christy Sullins of Valdosta, Donna J. Stitt of Yukiah, CA; two grandchildren, Jean Blair and Amanda Baker, Sandra Baker; four great grandchildren, Shelbey Baker, Cayden Baker, Breanna Baker, Lydia Baker; two sisters, Retha Mae Harris of Orlando, FL, Betty Ann Beverley of Clermont, FL; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; his goddaughter, Trinnie C. Johns of Punta Gorda, FL. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Miriam Johnson, Winnelle Drew, Carolyn McLeod and Bobbie Jean Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents in law, J. B and Nancy Tomlinson Roberts, sisters in law and brothers in law, Lucille O'Kelley, J. T. Roberts, Iris Tillman, Harry Roberts, Vivian Parker and Lillian "Bits" Beard.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Sunday, March 12, 2017 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 4pm, Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Westview Cemetery in Moultrie, GA. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Living Church of God, P. O. Box 3810, Charlotte, NC 28227-8010.
